Mosser Heights Farm, Cockermouth, Lake District

Our location is ideal for walking, cycling and touring as we are just 2 miles from Loweswater and 4 miles from Cockermouth.

Loweswater is a very picturesque lake and the walk around the back of the lake leads you through wooded areas and in early season the bluebells are breath taking. The walk itself is about 4 miles and there the Kirkstile pub at the far end of the lake brews it's own beer and serves bar food.

The fells of Loweswater spill out towards Crummock water and Buttermere. Also we are in easy reach of Ennerdale, so if you haven't explored or would like to revisit the western lake district we are ideally placed to offer you that comfortable base.

Cockermouth is a small market town and the Poet William Wordsworth once lived there, you can even tour his old house, it goes without saying that the area is awash with hosts of golden daffodils around February and March, and don't worry we are open all year so you can catch the views.

Cockermouth is also home to the Jennings Brewery and you can book tours there and sample the beers.

There is also a toy museum and art gallery, a sports centre with swimming pool, a golf course, and of course lots of little shops, pubs and cafes. There is also the Sheep & Wool centre on the A66 at Cockermouth, demonstrations of sheep and shearing are carried out there, also a gift shop and tea room. Across the way up behind the Cattle and Sheep Mart is Wellington farm tea shop and ice cream parlour, they make their own ice cream from their Jersey Cows, we highly recommend a visit.

Directions

From the A66 at Cockermouth take the A5086 Egremont road. Go past the school and take the next left signposted Mosser. Continue along this road do not take any turnings off. You will eventually reach Mosser Mains farm on your left. The road takes a sharp right bend out onto an open field with a single track road signposted Sosgill and Mockerkin, go up the hill and follow on for about 1 mile, the next property is a big white house on the left and we are 300 metres around the corner.
